This month, we make available the fourth and fifth (of five) parts of Dr. Tureck's third Regents Lecture at the University of California, San Diego, held on Feb 9, 1966:

These parts feature a fascinating discussion of ornamentation and notes inégale, using examples from J. S. Bach's Aria variata in A minor, BWV 989.

Two New Articles

Two new articles by Dr. Tureck are now available under documents. The first, Learning to Understand Bach, is about acquiring the piano technique necessary to play his contrapuntal music, and the second, A Tour Cancelled, is about the cancellation of Dr. Tureck's South Africa tour, to protest apartheid.

Two New Articles

Two new articles have recently been added to the site. The first, “Musical Interpretation,” is a detailed consideration of the role of scholarship in performance.
